広島立町郵便局 (Hiroshima Tatemachi Post Office) Fukeiin - Hiroshima-shi, Hiroshima
About Tatemachi
Hiroshima Tatemachi Post Office
Several post offices announce that they offer fukeiin, and you can see which fukeiin they offer at the entrance or information board, but some don't. Hiroshima Tatemachi post office is among the latter. That's why it's important to check the fukeiin directory on the Japan Post official website. Who knows, the post office in your area might actually offer one.
After I finished writing my address, I requested the officer to put fukeiin on all the postcards and post them. I hope all of them reach their new homes safely!
JUMP Store Minamoa
Usually, I would end my post here, but on this day, there was one more place I wanted to visit: the JUMP Store at Hiroshima Minamoa. As you can see on my blogger profile, before becoming a postcrosser, I was a manga nerd for a LONG time. I do read all sorts of manga, but One Piece is still my favorite. I go to the JUMP store from time to time to get JUMP series merchandise (mostly T-shirts and files), but now that I've started collecting postcards too, I wanted to check which postcards they have and maybe get some for myself lol.
One Piece postcards! Yay!The ones on the left are black and white illustrations from One Piece Magazine, while the ones on the right are from One Piece 効果音ポストカードコレクション第三弾 (One Piece Sound Effect Postcard Collection, 3rd edition). These are my prized possessions, and I won't let them go unless you bring something I really want in return. Meanwhile, I don't have any particular interest in postcards that many people seem to collect (like FOTW, MOTW, Greetings From, LouPaper, Lantern Press, Blue Cats, etc.). Of course, I'd be happy to receive one of them (I'm not very picky about postcards). However, if you ask me which one would make me happier, that or One Piece postcards? It's going to be One Piece postcards anytime. I also have other, more niche interests, but that is a story for another time.
After splurging on One Piece postcards and a T-shirt (can't NOT buy T-shirts!), I headed back home, just in time before rush hour started.
Hiroshima Tatemachi Post Office Fukeiin
My postcard with the fukeiin arrived a few days later. It has the image of Hiroshima Castle... and a fish logo? What could it be?From the Japan Post official website: "The fukeiin depicts Hiroshima Castle and the logo of Nakanotana Street." The fukeiin was launched on July 23rd, 2001.
Nakanotana Shopping Street is a shopping street located in the center of Hiroshima. The area was known as "Uo no tana" (fish store) because a market where fish wholesalers gathered, called "Higashi Uoya-cho" (Eastern Fish Market), was established since the construction of Hiroshima Castle. After that, two more fish markets were established, and Higashi Uoya-cho became known as Nakanotana (the middle store) because it was located between the other two markets. The Nakanotana logo is displayed at intersections along Nakanotana Shopping Street. Thanks to fukeiin, I learned something new today!
I'll see you all on my next fukeiin adventure!
Cheers.
